Top Ten Ways To Feel Healthy

1. Exercise
I know this is pretty much what everyone thinks of whenever the words 'feel/get healthy' come up, yet we tend not to realize how big of a difference it can make on our lives. Exercising or any physical activity you do not only makes you more physically healthy, but mentally as well.
Check out this awesome quiz to find out which sports you might enjoy (it's a really good quiz!):

2. Drink water
Another quite obvious tip is to get as much of this miracle liquid into your bod per day. Seriously, water one of the most amazing drinks, just check out all of the benefits:

  • Gives you heaps of energy
  • Flushes out toxins from your body
  • Promotes clear, glowing skin
  • Boosts immune system

3. Eat well
One of the biggest health myths states: if you exercise you don't have to worry about your eating. WRONG! No matter what your level of fitness is you should always care about what you are putting into your body. One of my key tips when trying to eat well is aim for a colourful plate. This does not mean eat a whole rainbow cake, it simply means eat a range of naturally coloured foods.
Don't forget to also have breakfast every day!

4. Get enough sleep each night
Each night you should aim to have about eight hours sleep. And no, watching Netflix under your sheets late at night does not count as sleeping! Getting a good sleep can improve your energy levels and mood for the following day. Another thing, try to keep your sleeping schedule as frequent as possible. This will make it way easier to wake up in the mornings I promise :)

5. Think positive
This may not seem like it would effect your physical health, and that's because it doesn't. So many people forget that being healthy isn't all about your body, it's about your mind too. By having good thoughts about everything and anything, it will improve your personal well-being and view on life, on top of making doing all of the things on this list so much easier!

6. Sun safety
Making sure your skin is healthy is one of the easiest ways to look and feel healthy. By following the good old 'slip, slop, slap' you can really make your skin look younger and fresher. Investing in a moisturiser that contains a high level SPF is a great idea, and you should put sunscreen on every day.

7. Hygiene
One of the cheapest and most beneficial things you can do for your body is provide it with the hygiene it requires. Having a bath or shower, washing your hands, washing your hair and body... all things most of us do can have a big impact on our appearance and whether or not we feel healthy and fresh. If you feel a bit yuck, why not give yourself a pamper night and give your wonderful body the love it deserves.
Fact: 750 million people around the world lack access to clean water for drinking and sanitation.

8. Meditate
Taking a few minutes here and there through the day can really help you feel more calm and less stressed. I remember when my school first introduced meditation classes and I thought they were a bit silly, but after a few goes I started to see a real change. I began to feel more motivated and like I wanted to be healthy. Here's a link to a YouTube channel which has some great meditation classes:

Also try out Smiling Mind (they even have an app):

9. Good posture
Next time your slouching in a chair or walking hunched over, try standing tall and pulling your shoulders back! Not only will it make you feel and look more confident, but it is also good for your body.

10. Smile
Because smiling is a chain reaction that can brighten everyone's day around you. Did you know that after smiling for 30 seconds, you begin to feel more happy yourself? And smiling can boost your immune system? So get out there and start showing off your wonderful smile to the world!

Top Ten Facts About Me

1. YouTube has changed my life
I remember back to the end of 2014 (it was literally in that short of a time this has all happened!) when one of my friends told me to check out Zoella's YouTube channel. That was when I first realized "oh, funny animal videos aren't the only thing on YouTube, some people actually do this as a thing". Since then I expanded my subscription list to many of the other YouTubers, with my favourites including Danisnotonfire, Connor Franta and Shaaanxo. With the help of these wonderful people, I began to see a boost in my self confidence and esteem. YouTube has definitely made me a happier person :)

2. I have a weird music taste
Okay, just remember that I know my music style is unusual, so just roll with it, all right?
Here are a couple of my favourite artists:
  • My Chemical Romance
  • R5
  • Taylor Swift
  • Little Sea
3. I have been bungee jumping
Oh. My. God. When my family and I went to New Zealand we made a quick stop to watch the crazy people who threw their body off a bridge, trusting a rope with their life. I then made a sarcastic joke about wanting to give it a try, however my family are a little slow on the sarcasm band wagon and thought I was being serious. Being kinda stubborn, I played along with it and THE VERY NEXT DAY I threw my body off a bridge, trusting a rope with my life.
Fun fact: I was 12

4. I like to pretend I'm organised
So here's my typical afternoon: While sitting on the bus on the way home from school, I make a quick list of how I will productively spend my afternoon, right down to setting time limits, in order to be prepared for the next day. However, when I get home I usually just spend the afternoon sleeping and watching YouTube :)

5. My cat loves playing on my iPad

6. I don't have a favourite movie
Gasp! It's not that I don't like them or don't watch them, it's more like I just love so many movies I would feel weird choosing just one, you know?

7. I love photography
I find that taking pictures is actually really relaxing and gives me a sense of accomplishment and pride if I like how a picture turns out. Yeah yeah, so I might look weird standing on a chair in a restaurant trying to capture that perfect angle, but it will be all worth it when you see the final product. Here's a pic I took in the position I just described:

8. I love being healthy
Haha, I used to laugh along with my family when I first said I would try to become healthy, but I feel like it has made a really positive change in my life. By being healthy, I mean treating my body right with eating, exercise and sleeping as well as mentally and emotionally. Maybe I'll do a post on Top Ten Ways To Be Healthy?

9. I am a DIY lover
OMG, if I had a dollar for every time I had decided to randomly make something just for fun I could afford a high rise apartment in NYC.

10. I love alone time
When I'm home alone, I usually...
  • Throw a dance party
  • Sing really loudly
  • Watch YouTube without headphones (gasp!)
  • Eat ice-cream
  • Have a bubble bath
